I have since heard that the wedding was beautiful and that Jason and Dana loved the painting. I just love happy endings, although in this case I'd have to say it's a happy beginning.

I won't fly in a plane and I am very uncomfortable in high places. I guess the subject matter was a tantalizing mixture of sweet and sour for me as an artist. ~ Tanya

"Highland Beauty" Scottish Fold Cat Painting by Tanya Amberson

Commissioned portrait of a Scottish Fold Cat. This breed is unique because of their folded down ears caused by a natural dominant gene mutation. The folded ears combined with their characteristic round faces and large eyes give them an owl like appearance. The original Scottish Fold was a barn cat born in 1961 in Perthshire, Scotland. In time she passed her gene for folded ears on to her kittens and caught the attention of a neighbor farmer who also happened to be a cat fancier. Thus a new breed of cat came into being.

Special Thanks to Paul and Stacey Tosch and also to sweet little Pickle, who passed over the Rainbow Bridge way too soon.

This is a different style than my usual work. It's enjoyable to break out from routine and do something new. Hope you like it.

On a side note, now that the weather is getting wet and cold here in the Pacific Northwest, you all should be seeing more work from Craig soon. He's such an avid gardner and all around "outside person" that it's hard to get him to stay at his easel when the sun is shining. But now that his garden has been put to bed for the winter and the last of the apples have been picked, he will have a lot more time for painting.
