This painting always reminds me of a horse I had when I was a kid. He was meaner than sin but he was always waiting at the corner of his pasture, across from my bus stop, every week day afternoon. He would prance and kick up his heals along the fence line, following me as I walked home. A nice memory.

This painting was inspired by the team of horses my grandfather had as a teenager. When he was 16 years old he would hire him and his team out after school and on weekends to work in the fields. Quite a bit different from the after school jobs most modern kids have now days!

Two cute characters I came up with as a new series duo. Pudge is a lazy tuxedo cat with a sophisticated dry wit under her cuddly exterior. Slick is a ditzy fast talking, fast moving Chihuahua and is usually the victim of Pudge's "cattitude".

I finished this commission a couple months ago but waited till now to share it because it was a surprise wedding gift for the clients brother Jason and his fiancee Dana. As well as being dog lovers, the happy couple are avid skiers, so the client requested the snowy mountain scene in the background. I have since heard that the wedding was beautiful and that Jason and Dana loved the painting. I just love happy endings, although in this case I'd have to say it's a happy beginning.
